The National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently clarified that they will focus on high-energy-consuming industries such as steel, and promote energy-saving and carbon-reduction transformation in a phased manner, striving to continuously increase the proportion of production capacity at the energy efficiency benchmark level during the 15th Five-Year Plan period. At the policy level, this will be systematically promoted through improving the standard system, carrying out special actions, and strengthening financial support. Simultaneously, relying on the upgrading of energy-saving equipment and the empowerment of digital technology, combined with full-process supervision and standard improvement, the energy efficiency of the steel industry will be improved, providing key support for achieving the goal of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality in the industrial sector.
