Corrosion-Resistant, High-Strength, Precision Delivery: GDD Steel’s Cold-Formed Steel Sections Support Overseas Logistics Hub Construction

2026-04-27

Recently, amid the roaring machinery at GDD Steel’s new building materials production workshop, a batch of high-strength galvanized cold-formed steel sections, specified as G350+Z275, successfully completed cold forming and automatic fixed-length cutting. After final inspection by the quality inspection department, the products were officially put into storage. This batch has passed mechanical property and corrosion resistance tests conducted by a third-party testing agency and is set to be shipped to a key logistics hub project in a Southeast Asian country, providing core structural support for its high-standard warehousing facilities.

As a key R&D achievement of the company for 2024, this batch of cold-formed steel sections uses Q355B high-strength low-alloy structural steel as the base material. A continuous hot-dip galvanizing process forms a double-sided zinc coating of 275g/㎡, delivering excellent tensile strength (≥470MPa) and corrosion resistance. The sectional design features a standard C-profile of C250×75×20×2.5mm, combined with a unique “Z”-shaped stiffener rib structure, which increases bending stiffness by 18% compared to traditional profiles, effectively meeting the load requirements of large-span roofing systems in tropical climates.

During production, GDD Steel leveraged an imported German cold-forming line to achieve fully intelligent control over the entire process, from steel coil uncoiling and roll forming to automatic punching and fixed-length cutting. According to the production department head, the line employs servo motor drives and a laser online thickness measurement system, ensuring product dimensional accuracy is controlled within ±0.5mm, with zinc coating adhesion reaching the highest grade of the GB/T 13912-2020 standard.

A report from the third-party testing agency shows that the actual measured yield strength of this batch of cold-formed steel sections is 385MPa, with an elongation rate of 22%. The zinc coating uniformity test, conducted via the copper sulfate immersion method for one minute, showed no red rust, with all indicators exceeding design requirements. The project’s technical representative stated during on-site acceptance: “GDD’s products not only meet our stringent standards for structural safety, but their lightweight design also reduces transportation and installation costs, providing strong support for the project schedule.”

The logistics hub project in the Southeast Asian country, to which this batch is being delivered, has a total investment of over 3 billion US dollars and a planned construction area of 600,000 square meters. Once completed, it will radiate across the ASEAN economic circle, becoming a crucial regional intelligent warehousing and distribution center. Leveraging its technical expertise in green building materials and rapid response capabilities, GDD Steel completed the process from bidding to mass production in just 45 days, once again demonstrating its customer-centric service philosophy.

In recent years, GDD Steel has continuously increased R&D investment, focusing on the development and application of high-strength, corrosion-resistant, and lightweight steel structural products. In addition to this batch of cold-formed steel sections, the company’s self-developed innovations, such as aluminum-zinc-magnesium alloy-coated steel sheets and prefabricated steel structure residential systems, have been widely applied in industrial plants, public buildings, and the new energy sector. Looking ahead, the company will continue to deepen industry-university-research collaboration, promoting the upgrade of steel materials toward high performance, long life, and low carbonization, contributing more GDD solutions to building industrialization and the “dual carbon” goals.
